First Launch Checklist

If you have a brand-new workspace and want to reach your first working call quickly, follow these steps in order. This sequence respects the dependencies between sections so you do not get blocked on the next step.

Step 1. Connect a SIP Trunk

First, add your provider details in the trunks section. After saving, the platform provisions the trunk and checks its status.

Tip

Right after adding the trunk, click the diagnostics button (the flask icon). It shows not only the current status, but also a clear reason if something is wrong: invalid username, invalid password, unauthorized IP, or an unreachable provider host.

Step 2. Create a DID and Choose a Route

Once you have a working trunk, add your external phone number and decide where incoming calls should go:

  1. to a specific extension;
  2. to a queue;
  3. to an IVR;
  4. to voicemail;
  5. to an external phone number.
Check

If you route calls to an external phone number, you must have an active outbound trunk. Without it, external forwarding will not work.

Step 3. Create Extensions

Employees need an extension to use the softphone, participate in queues, and receive calls from IVR menus.

Check five things:

  1. the extension is active;
  2. it is assigned to the right employee;
  3. WebRTC is enabled if the employee calls from the browser;
  4. the extension password is saved;
  5. SIP credentials are copied from the extension card if the employee uses an external device.
Important

External SIP devices and desktop softphones register not just as 101, but with an address like 101@tenant-domain.sip.4phone.uz, while using the shared server sip.4phone.uz.

Step 4. Configure Call Distribution Logic

Your choice depends on how your team handles incoming calls:

  1. Direct routing to an employee works well for small teams.
  2. A queue is needed when multiple operators share the same incoming call stream.
  3. An IVR is needed when callers should choose a department or scenario themselves.

Step 5. Test the Softphone or External Device

Have the operator open the phone widget in the web interface or register their external SIP client, connect, and place a test outbound call.

Important

In 4phone, the dedicated Softphone page serves as a quick reference guide. Actual calls are placed and answered through the floating phone widget available on every page of the dashboard.

Tip

If your company uses desk IP phones or external SIP apps, verify registration using the credentials from the extension card first, and only then test inbound routing.

Step 6. Test the Inbound Call Scenario

Place one real or test incoming call and verify that:

  1. the call reaches the intended route;
  2. it passes through the IVR or queue if configured;
  3. a recording appears if call recording is enabled;
  4. the call appears in call history.

Minimum Launch Readiness Checklist

Your system is ready to go live when
  1. you have an active SIP trunk;
  2. you have at least one DID with a configured route;
  3. employees have active extensions;
  4. an operator can connect via the browser softphone or an external SIP client;
  5. both inbound and outbound test calls succeed.
